Unfortunately, with the 5th birthday of our youngest, the changes have sent us into chaos again! He was so cute as a little one...(he still is, but he is especially cute in this pic!):
And he was such an easy-going little boy! Never did he have separation issues in the church nursery; he sailed through his first year of preschool; he has such a great love for life; and he is usually such a happy boy! That is, as long as night-night was still in the picture....
After a trip to the dentist, he decided that when he turned five, he would be "all done" with his night-night. We held him to this, and now he is a very different little boy! He cried the last couple weeks of preschool, he's having difficulty in Sunday School, he's quite crabby often, and he is constantly saying...."But I want night-night back!". It breaks my heart, in many ways...
- I can't believe our littlest one is five already!
- He isn't our little baby any longer.
- He rarely cries, so to see him this distraught is not easy!
- He's going to Kindergarten in the fall!
- It's sad to watch him still "want" to be a baby, but really want to be a big boy at the same time.
- But, mostly, I can't help him out of it.
It's been a rough couple of weeks. Hopefully that means we are going through the transitions NOW, and that the first week of school will be smooth sailing...a mom can hope, can't she!
I will leave you with a new picture from his fifth birthday....he still is pretty cute!

*sniffle*...why does it seem like as soon as you get to know them, they change? This is one of the toughest things about motherhood! And, too like you said - when you aren't able to help them out & have to let them figure things out on their own. So good we have a God to comfort us as moms!
